Consistancy on taking the dog to designated spot OFTEN after food, play and sleep as far as the house breaking.
Care for the pup properly with physical care, training, socialization and affection will make any dog loyal and friendly

There's lots of help on potty training that you can find on the web.
It your dog is a puppy, remember to take the pup out as soon as they wake up from a nap and a few minutes after they eat. They should go to the same spot each time you take them out. They will associate the smell with going about their business.
You can also use a crate. Here's one site of many.

Your dog or puppy will respond to positive reinforcement. Hitting or punishing your dog can make them afraid and anxious.
If you can afford to take your dog to a training class, it will help you
learn how to work with your dog. They can also help you with any training problems you may be having. A well mannered dog is a joy and your dog will become a happy companion.

Number 1, don't use the rubbing his nose in his pee method. All this does is confuse the dog because he doesn't know what he did wrong unless you catch him in the act. Whenever you find a puddle just show it to him and say: "No pee-pee in the house! You go potty OUT-side!!" Then immediately put him outside and leave him for a few minutes. I know this sounds silly, but it really works. Just say something along those lines and make your voice sound a little angry.
