I believe Jesus is referring to the completion of the new Pascal Banquet. Do you believe He is simply stating His death? Do you believe His is stating the New Pascal dinner began at the Last Supper? What does this meaning of the word "It" impact the institution of Holy Communion?

"It" was the ordeal on the cross...

There is a LOT of confusion however about the crucifixion itself as a tool of Roman punishment. There are some that actually say that the crucified were taken off the cross afterwards ans survived.

You read too much into everything from the Bible...... don't read into it.... just READ the thing.......

Give me half a moment in time and I can link Barney the Purple Dinosaur to the Last Supper if you wish me to.

"It" had no impact what-so-ever......
The Last Communion was also a simple thing..... Christ already knew that Judas was going to tell the Priests about the Garden of Gethsemane. He was saying Goodbye and hoping that at least a few of his Apostles might continue the tradition without mucking it up too much...... He wanted Mary Magdalene to continue with it, but after a few years Peter and Paul took care of that didn't they?

They turned Mary from a 'companion' of Royal descent into s mere 'prostitute' but they were never able to fully get rid of her were they? She's still there 200 years later..... the only woman in Jesus times to have a LAST NAME..... funny thing isnt it?

A prostitute with a last name......... something only ROYAL BLOOD would have to begin with as everyone else only kept the name of their hometown as a last name.......

When Jesus cried out triumphantly "It is finished", He was referring to God's plan for man's salvation. Jesus, by dying on the cross, has atoned for the sins of all mankind. From that moment on the door to God's throne room was opened to man. Man could be made right with God by placing their trust in the Lord Jesus. Have you done this? Do so today.

Corinthians I 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

according to the scriptures; - it was finish, means all the prophecy of his 1st advent was fulfilled 100%, better then Ivory soap.

Luke 9:30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
Luke 9:31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

On the Mount where Jesus was transfugured: notice Moses (law) and Elijah (Propehets) what did they talk about? spake of his decease - the heavenly meeting was about one thing ---

To fulfill scripture 100%, they had a bible study on the mount that day.

Jesus could not die until all prophecy was fulfilled

When Jesus said "It is finished," he was referring to His work in paying the penalty for our sins.

Jesus didn't come to save us from our sins, but rather to PAY the penalty (our well-deserved and earned penalty) for our sins, the penalty of course being death.

It is also important to note that Jesus said "It is finished," meaning done completely. This negates the idea that Jesus had to go into Hell and either witness to people and/or fight the devil. The work was FINISHED, as in done, completed, finalized, on the cross.

Catholics have been caught up in ritualism and dogmatic rites and religion for far too long, please, pray and return to the simplicity of the gospel. God Bless.

The story of the young god who has to die so that the Earth may live was a very common one in this era. Early Christians adopted it to Jesus, making him the divine figure who had to sacrifice his life for others to prevent an angry bigger god from harming human beings. It is, in fact, a fairly primitive and dark image of human sacrifice from an even earlier period of human evolution. The "it" is this willingness to die on the altar as a sacred sacrifice.

Isn't it obvious? He successfully martyred himself therebye cementing the religion in society. If he existed, he wasn't a stupid man and was very charismatic. He was also manipulative just like the leaders of any church.
