I used to work there when it was Butlin's..a very downmarket, chavvy place to stay. There used to be old fashioned chalets on four different camps...Blue,green and yellow were self-catering and red was all-in.The old chalets have been demolished and replaced by more modern static caravans,a higher class of tourist and stay-in workers stay there now, shown by the much decreased crime rate in Pwllheli during the summer compared to the old days of Butlins when summer crime figures rocketed.Have a nice stay, welcome and don't forget to leave the camp and visit the lovely Llyn peninsula and the nearby (approx 10 mls) Italianate village of Portmeirion..where the 60's cult TV program "The Prisoner" was filmed. Croeso i dref Pwllheli. By the way the previous answer was wrong..Carmarthen is down south miles away,it must have been Caernarfon castle they visited, where Prince Charles' investiture took place in 1969.It is also NOT the Towyn area one!!

I went with my hubby and two daughters in September 2004. It is a very small site not a lively or action park. The kids were only 18 months and 3 at the time so they were happy just going in the swimming pool and in the soft play area. The nightly entertainment was pretty much standard to every Haven site.
I wouldn't reccommend it for older children who usually like to go off doing loads of activities, there didn't seem much there.
We went out of the camp a lot visiting places - Carmarthon Castle and a few others, also went to Portmerion and Snowdonia where we went on a lakes train ride. None of these were too far to drive to.
All in all we had a good hol! But we didn't spend a lot of time actually at the site - more of a base to go out visiting places.
Sorry - CAERNARFON Castle! Only been to Wales once - 2 years ago, can't remember everything!
