I order "seared" ahi tuna last night at a resturant. It was cooked on the outside, but pink, almost raw on the inside. I put the leftovers in the fridge and then ate it more than 24 hours later. I have always heard that you shouldn't let let things thaw and then re-refrigate them. Doesn't this fall into that category. It was warmed, but not completely cooked, then saved. Is this still safe to eat?

Feeling woozy ... somebody call 911 ... wait, maybe thats just the sake ...

I don't know if it's safe or not - I probably would have erred on the side of caution and NOT eaten the tuna, but then I probably wouldn't have ordered it in the first place. If you reheated it until it was steaming, then it was safe to eat, so long as it had been stored properly in a refrigerator and not left out at room temperature for longer than 2 hours. If you didn't reheat it, then you may be in for a nasty case of food poisoning.

What you want to do is freeze it first as a fashion to kill any parasites or you need to finally end up with a tapeworm... maximum eastern eating places will freeze their fish beforehand serving it raw. Drowning your "Sashimi" in soy sauce and wasabi is also frowned upon with the help of Sushi cooks because it takes faraway from the flavor of the fish. so a procedures as i understand any fish may be fed on raw, freeze it first fantastically no matter if that is wild or your purveyor/enterprise hasn't or would not understand no matter if that's been.

it was probably safe...

If it had been sushi I would have said not to eat it because you've got to be real careful with sushi that's more than 12 hours old. But because it had been cooked (even if only seared) it should be ok.

Besides, isn't it to late to ask if it's ok to eat considering that you already ate it?

It should not be a problem if it was promptly refrigerated after serving -- if you took six hours to get home, and it was sitting in the car during that time, I don't know. But it's a little late to ask now, isn't it? You can't re-freeze after thawing, but it is OK to re-refrigerate them.
