I want to encourage myself to eat better, and also have a record of what I eat.

I'm just worried that keeping a food diary may turn into obssessive behaviour?

What do you think?

no, but things like that can get obsessive if you go to great lengths t ofill the min. if you counted up how many calories and worked out your toal RDA and set a fixed menu for your meals, then that WOULD

It's a very good idea if you're trying to lose some weight, or even if you're just trying to eat healthy. But you must be honest with yourself if it's going to work.

There's no use leaving out the fact that you pigged out on chocolate biscuits, just so that you don't have to feel guilty about it later. That'd be denial, wouldn't it?

No i was a weight watchers member and they encourage having a food diary so you know what you have eaten. IT reallt works because when you see what you have eaten you really be carefull on what else you are going to eat.

Usually if I start writing it down it means I am feeling out of control but it can help if you write it down before eating it cause it makes you think twice about it and not eat too much but it can become very obsessive and take any pleasure out of the process.

It can be obsessive. But if you intend to use it as a record for what you have said, then I don't see a problem with it.. Just keep an eye on it.
