I doubt it very much although some people claim that he was a Jew, according to hearsay. But according to historical records and her final burial place, his mother was a devout Catholic.

Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were mostly German Christians [Lutherans?] who fostered and advocated NATIONALISM and ANTI-SEMITISM. During his regime that started in the early 1930s, Germany had one of the highest percentage of Christians compared to most other countries in the world, and Hitler wanted to have a strong tie-in between his [modified Christian] Church and in running the State.

And the rest, as they say, is history...

Peace be with you.

There is some evidence that his background was in fact Jewish but the trail is somewhat obscure. Hitler claimed he was a Roman Catholic Christian but facts seem to point out that his grandfather was very likely a Jew.

You can find plenty of biographic information on Hitler but it is, not surprisingly, all a little skeptical of it's own truth... a truth which was altered for Nazi political reasons. "Hitlers War" by David Irving has a small biological sketch of the man but it is nonetheless a good one.

Hitlers father Aloise was actually the illegitimate son of a German girl and a Jew. He was desperate to hide these details so he had the original records in his village replaced with forgeries designed to hide his heritage and make him look like a full blooded German.

By Hitler's own definition of what it meant to be Jewish (being 1/8 Jewish), yes - but obviously he renounced the religion if he ever practiced it at all. Its too bad he didn't start his "final solution" on himself and end it there.

I read once that one of Hitler's parents was Jewish. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the book. I found that idea very thought-provoking, however.

Sorry if my answer isn't (I'm assuming you meant) "evolved" enough for you!

I'm not sure whether he was a jew or not. I've heard different theories. Basically he was one sicko jerk.
