It doesn't hurt. I had braces in for 4 years and I had to have six teeth out. When you have your teeth out, the injection to numb the area can sting a little, and when they tighten your braces your mouth can ache which is uncomfortable but this is normal and means that the braces are doing their job.
You can get dental pain tablets from Boots which work for every pain. Take one after you ave your braces put in or tightened. Your braces shouldn't cause you pain in any other way, if you find that they are extremely uncomfortable (you should feel an ache for about a day, maybe longer) then go and see your dentist and they may loosen them a tiny bit. Sometimes the dentist will leave a tiny bit of wire which can scratch your cheek and that will drive you insane more than anything, so get your dentist to cut the extra bit off and you'll be fine.
Don't worry. It's all worth it believe me!

It may hurt for the first few days. They tend to scratch the insides of your cheeks.
The orthodontist will give you a wax stick that you can rub on the braces to fill in the spaces. That will temporarily stop the scratching. If you rinse with salt water a few times a day, your cheeks will hurt less and stop hurting faster.
There are only two reasons for removing teeth for a brace.
1- There are too many teeth for the size of his jaw.
2- The teeth were already bad. This is usually the case, especially if they are wisdom teeth.

I had 4 teeth out for braces and I just got mine put in on Wednesday. It really doesn't hurt....its just very uncomfortable. The worst part is how the brackets scrape against your cheeks and inner lip. But the first few days you feel the pressure, but you start getting used to it around the 3rd - 4th day. It will take a week to get used to them. Its also kinda disturbing how your teeth like move slightly when you push them with your tongue (not trying to scare you, its supposed to be like that since your teeth are moving).
If you want to know any more, please email me. I just got them on so I would know first hand. Thanks.
GOOD LUCK<3333

I'm going to be honest with you, yes, it does hurt, but it is so worth it in the end. I had to have 4 teeth out too as they said my mouth was crowded!! The brace rubs on your gums and makes them sore... but the worst bit is when they tighten it up, it hurt so much that it made me cry!! But, if I had to go back and choose again, I would definately have them. My teeth are perfect now, and I love them. The pain is worth it :-) xx

It doesn't usually hurt that bad. But sometimes after getting then tightened your teeth will be a bit sore. So things like pudding and mash potatoes will be the best to eat during that time.

for the first 2 weeks yes it does hurt. your mouth wont be used to having the metal inside it so your mouth will become raw with cuts, mostly on the inside, sometimes on the outside. but ask for ALOT of wax! and get "phos-flur" flouride mouthwash because that prevents you from getting cavaties under the brackets. be prepared to take a lot of pain medicine. good luck! hope this helps! :D

Yes it does hurt.
I took out 2 teeth, my friend took out 8 teeth. It totally varies with your situation. Just go with the flow when it happens.

Having them put in doesn't hurt, but they rub against the inside of your cheeks making them sore. At least until the skin has hardened and gotten used to them.
