Believe it or not, the English language is not nationalized so that means we must provide translations using the taxpayers money. That means that in a court of law, if someone does not speak English, a translator must be provided. All of these labels on our cereal boxes, electrical domestic items, pharmacies, and government systems must spend extra money to provide this information in other languages. That is very costly. I cannot think of any other country that provides this service. If you get in trouble with the law in other countries, you had better have big money to pay for a translator so that you can understand what is going on in court. So think about that for a while and decide what kind of priorities you would like done with your tax money and if it is really worth it when you vote.

National language? What does that mean? Should other languages be outlawed all together? Should they be outlawed just in schools? Should a business not have the right to broaden its costomer base by advertising in two languages? Should people have the right to not be mildly bothered when they hear or see another language? Does this country need to establish a dominate language that is superior to others? "National language" Please explain this.

it is idiotic to use language as a political tool. it always backfires. and as for the spread of english, it is happening with an unstoppable dynamic all over the world, so there is absolutely no need to "protect" it with legislation. It is all the other languages that need protection.
