You should go to a place called Super Rich in the Pratunam area if you are in Bangkok, it is located across the street and down a couple of blocks from the front of the Central World Plaza (former World Trade Center), in the area to the left of the Big C shopping center, I'm sorry I don't have the address, avoid Super Rich 4711 (rates not so good), and go down the block and turn left, you will see a "Super Rich" on the corner (across from the Kasikorn Bank), and another Super Rich across the street from the one on the corner, the one on the corner is always good, but you can check the one across the street too. Their rate will probably be at least 2% better than a bank, and sometimes up to 4% better. Make sure you have your passport with you. I live in Bangkok, and it's THE place where locals go to exchange money, it is always the best rate in town ( check the Kasikorn Bank, or any bank or currency exchange and you'll know what I mean). I'm sure once you get to the area to the left of the Big C, you can ask people where Super Rich is and many people will know.

The current rate of exchange is 31.45 Thailand no longer has a dual exchange rate for domestic and international exchange of Thai Baht. However, you will more likely get a better rate of Exchange in Thailand than abroad, but the difference will be 1/2 a baht as opposed to 2 baht under the dual rate policy. The exchange rate has changed VERY little since March 1

Suggest any Bank in Thailand, most of them will give you a better rate for 100 dollar bills than the 50 or 20. The use of ATM cards or credit cards can be done but most Banks charge a percentage (Average 5 to 10 %) on top of what you with draw out. (ie: with draw 200 USD they charge additional 20 Bucks).

The bank rates are still better than private exchange. You can do at any inside and outside the airport. However if you have an international ATM card, the inter-bank rate will be better of course.

Commercial and authorized money exchange. If you do at other places, there should be some extra premium charged to compensate the exhange fluctuation risk. Please note, USD is getting weaker and weaker against local currency for months and there's no sign of the reversal in the next few months.

don't bring currency bring a ATM card. Best rate and no fees for exchange. p.s. have a transaction free ATM card, plus banks don't charge fees on withdrawals of your own money. Only credit cards do.

I used to think that people should just use their ATM cards but then I saw a couple of cases where, obviously well-off customers, couldn't get their ATM cards to work. Therefore, people thinking about relying on ATMs as a source of Thai Baht should at least have a back-up/emergency supply of cash/travellers' checks.
