I've had this puppy since 6 weeks. She is almost a year old. Never abused. We love her but when we try to pick her up she pees everywhere. They say it is called submissive peeing. Okay now what?

The best way to build a dog's confidence is to teach new things, and lavish praise for them learning.
Search online for good obedience courses, and begin training the basic obedience lessons..If your dog already knows the 'come, sit, stay, heel,' then teach the fun things, such as shake hands, or roll over, or fetch, or Frisbee..As your dogs learns that she can please you and be rewarded, her self esteem will grow, and as it does, she will be less prone to submissive peeing..
I like to train for 20 minutes during the day, and re-enforce the training during tv commercials in the evening..

first of all, i think of because of the fact of this human beings dislike Cesar Millan. I even have Cesar's entire first season and not in any respect as quickly as did I see him ever ever ever pass that a ways. in actuality, whilst Cesar does "positioned a canines down", he does so firmly, no longer with stress, he under no circumstances chases after a canines. He would walk a canines down, yet under no circumstances chases after them. And he does not tower over the poor element and he under no circumstances stares straight away into its eyes - in actuality, he recommends against that. So i think of your 3 hundred lb roommate has watched some too episodes and is a thoroughly un-knowledgeable, un-stated Cesar wannabe. each canines is distinctive with know to mouthing. severe mouthing offenses opt for a miles less assailable hand. although, that being stated, curiously like (to me from what you wrote) t hat you do no longer believe that's severe at this element. I even have achieved the "ow" and pulled my hand away with all 3 of my canines. yet I even have under no circumstances given them a toy afterwards. I stop enjoying and then, after a jiffy, re-have interaction enjoying or petting or regardless of it replaced into that we've been doing previously. They now do little or no - if any - biting with us whilst enjoying. And if biting happens - in any way shape or type, we are saying "OW" loudly and stop enjoying. i'm speaking weeks between blunders with all 3 of them now. bear in suggestions - harm has been achieved. it would subside plenty whilst the three hundred lb bully is out of the photograph, yet whilst/whilst it happens - do no longer say something to do the canines. No scolding ( which will in simple terms make it greater demanding) and surely no reassurance. in simple terms freshen up the mess. As in the intervening time - ask your roommate to stay the hell away out of your canines - if he won't - i could be greater desirable than happy to come back pee on him ;)

Ditto what Chetcosaid.

After you have done some basic obedience, think about agility, it is a GREAT confidence booster.

Also, to yell at her or to use harsh training methods is only going to make it worse.

Always assure her that you love her and only want whats best for her. Talk gentle and calming, maybe try with 'pick up' training outside while calming and stroking?
