There are a few ways. Like someone said, you can get a special camera or lense that is wide-angle. Or there are some cameras that have multiple lenses or that move the lense to do multiple exposures.
The way most people do panoramas with digital cameras is to stand in one spot and then take multiple photos by turning slightly with each photo. You want your photos to have overlapping content with each other so you can stitch them together in software. Some cameras also have an exposure lock so that each photo is exposed the same and they will be the same exposure to fit together better without being lighter and darker.
Once you have all your photos on your computer then you can use special features in software like Adobe Photoshop Elements or other programs. You can do a search for programs that stitch photos together. Basically it will help you line up the overlapping parts of the photos so they line up and look continuous. Once you have it stiched together you might crop the photo to get out the parts where one photo is higher or lower than another. Then you'll have a long panoramic shot that looks ok if everything goes right.

If you're using a digital SLR, just use a wide angle lens, like 17 or 18 mm and then crop off the top and bottom of the image. Or, stitch some pictures together in Photoshop. This can be tedious...

The only thing a panoramic camera does is close down the opening in the lens to crop of the bottom and top of the photo. If you take your photo and leave the top and bottom of the negative room to be cropped without losing critical parts of the picture, any photo lab with panoramic printing can print the picture. Take care cropping a photo in this manor can distort images. They need to be sharp and clear to begin with, or they will lose the quality you might be going for.

There are panoramic cameras however the Nikon D90 isn't one in each and every of them. genuine panoramic cameras are relatively exceptional and nonetheless commonly action picture based cameras. the main inexpensive of them is in all probability a Lomography type like the Horizon Perfekt or Kompakt. in any different case, you're observing a $6000-$10000 investment. That suggested, you need to use purposes like Adobe Photoshop CS4 or a extra low value option to combine various pictures from a D90 or different DSLR digicam right into a unmarried panoramic image. you would be wanting to do some extra study in this concern to return to a type what to do. The Nikon D90 is an outstanding wide-spread purpose DSLR digicam and, as reported previously, you need to use it to create panoramic photos yet, it is not something executed in digicam. i've got made some panoramic photos by making use of sewing various photos from the two my Canon 40D or 7D making use of my 10-22mm and 17-55mm lenses. those have been spontaneous photos i desperate to objective whilst on holiday or at kinfolk gatherings so as that they weren't something specific yet, the outcomes have been good adequate to share with kinfolk and would not have been plausible with out using application to stitch the photographs jointly or an surely panoramic digicam.

1. Some digital cameras have a "panorama" function which allows you to align several shots to make a panorama. If you dont have that then what you do is take a picture, remember a prominant object on the right of your viewer, pan to the right till that object is on the left side and take another picture. Repeat until you have gotten all that you want. Using a tripod would help immensely.
2. In order to make a panorama shot from several pictures, you could stitch together your photos on photoshop. However, the easiest way is to use a photostitch program. There is a program called "photostitch" that comes with canon digital cameras. All you have to do is open up your pictures on this program and it will automatically stitch them for you to create one big panorama. Ask any of your friends who own a canon if they can pass you the disk. I really reccomend this program i am in architecture and i use it a lot. I believe kodak has a similar programs as well. Good luck!

There are two ways:
1) Use a panoramic camera; or
2) Use a tripod to hold the camera steady. Take a shot, pan the tripod a little less than the width of one frame, and take the next shot, and so on. (You want to create ever so slight of an overlap between frames...) I once did this fom a hilltop to get a full 360 degree view of my city.

1. using a tripod take a series of images turning the camera about a half frame each time for as many times as you need to get the whole picture.
Name them in succession and save to a folder (panarama), then hopefully you have photshop version CS or better.
Under "file, automate" you will find "photomerge"...open all images in the panarama and select photomerge. When it opens select open images and press OK.
Photoshop will automatically create the panarama.
