a psychic knows what you are thinking and an empath only knows how you feel. scared, happy etc. I would imagine that a psychic is also an empath but not vice versa.

Also a psychic might be a magical person that predicts the future, tarot, or crystal balls. Psychic is a very general term actually, including pyro kenisis or any MIND power.

A telepath and an empath are what i first said. telepath reads minds, empath reads emotions, but psychic covers a wide range of super (or magical) powers.

Psychic is a broad term that many use mainly for clairvoyants (ability to see) who can predict past or future events by seeing them. But Psychic can cover all forms of senses that are beyond the physical ones. Such as being clairsentient (ability to feel or touch beyond physical), clairaudient (ability to hear beyond physical - such as hearing actual words or voices, music, etc that others cannot hear) , claircognizant (ability to know about past, present, future and other things without ever hearing or learning about them before).

Empathy can be just the normal ability to be able to feel and sense what another is feeling due to physical clues, this is the lowest level of psychic ability because almost everyone is born with it. Intuition is a form of psychic ability that everyone has to some degree - it is that hunch or gut feeling that many trust but do not ever develop to more than just the hunch.

Someone who is more sensitive and can feel things from people even without physical clues or talking to a person is called an Empath. An Empath falls under the clairsentient aspect because empaths can feel the emotions and sometimes physical pains that another can feel. Typically this helps people who are using their psychic gifts to help others heal from pain and illness because empaths can zero in on why they are in pain if they have enough of the other psychic abilities to do so.

Some people may only have one aspect of the psychic ability, like being an empath or clairvoyant, some people do not get all gifts or develop all of them to the same degree. Others have a wide range of these gifts and develop them more so they can be both an empath and a clairvoyant, etc.

Mediums also fall under the psychic category, particularly clairvoyant and clairaudient due to the need to be able to see or hear the spirits that come to them for help. But mediumship can be a stand alone gift, where although the person can see or hear the spirit they may not receive all the information they need to do anything with it.

I don't think there are any absolute definitions to the words you ask about because after all we are talking about the paranormal. I can give you my definitions Empathic is someone who can pick up feelings from a person & know things about their feelings that no one else can see or even imagine. Medium is also empathic- but can actually communicate between the earthly and the spiritual realms. Psychic to me is both empathic & a medium plus they have the power to reach deeper in to the spiritual realm in both sight, premissions and feelings. I call myself empath & occasionally Psychic but not sure if I have ever connected the earthly to the spiritual realm. I believe I have indirectly by sharing with another person something that I have sensed, seen or felt. I am not sure I would want to be psychic because to me that is a person who gets the deepest insight, for sight and communication with other worlds.

I honestly don't know how you define a psychic. It's such a commonly used word in our current language that some people may assume they are one in the same.

Empathy is a term (as I understand it)....that means to be able to feel for others and or with others. Empathy is a form of compassion in the extreme. (To actually feel compassion for others).

You won't find an empath with a sign on their front door, nor will they charge money, nor will they use cards or palm readings or anything else. I have never researched it, so don't take my word for it.

empathy is the psychic ability to pick up feelings, but the term "psychic" covers all other facets like precognition, clairvoyance and telepathy--so an empath is psychic, but a psychic is not necessarily an empath
