My wife, now 55 is suffering from what the doctors call 'TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA'. SHE GETS PAIN OVER THE MOLAR REGION, AT TIMES OVER THE FOREHEAD AND HEAD, AT TIMES ON THE BACK. She has undergone treatment by dentists, neurologists, homoeopaths but no permanent relief. Only 'GABA NEURON' gives some relief, this she is continuing for last 4 months, withdrawing this triggers the problem again. Can some body help????

The Gaba Neuron proceedure may not be working like it needs to. Has she tried other's like alcohol or glycerol injections?
It may be something that may take something more drastic, like severing the nerve or using an electric current.
My grandmother suffered from this and died with it. They didn't have treatments for it then. I understand the stress can bring the pain on and if she is 55, going into menopause, the bodies ability to deal with stress is harder, because of the hormones inbalances.
I wish her the best and I hope you find something that will bring her relief.

I'm a chiropractor & I have just treated a patient w/ Trigeminal Neuralgia a few months ago. We ordered a special electronic stimulator, prescribed by his neurologist, similar to a TENS unit, but a little bit different, for him to use at home, and I referred him to the acupuncturist. I have not found chiropractic to be overly effective in reducing symptoms of this disorder, but I know it's a miserable condition.
Perhaps her neurologist will know what I am talking about & you can get one... and also find a good acupuncturist in your area.
Good luck to her.

From your description there are more nerves involved than the trigeminal nerve. What you mention involves an inflammatory process which involves several of the cranial nerves. As you indicate, the symptoms appear in various places around the head and I presume you mean the back of the head...
The only thing you have not mentioned in the attempt to resolve this problem is the doctor of Chiropractic.. This is not an unusual thing for them to treat.. successfully I might add. There has to be a reason for that inflammatory process to be taking place and it revolves around the cranial nerves.. You will find the base of the skull to be quite sensitive to pressure, mainly on one side. A strong indication of where the problem originates.

Botox, is said to be able to relieve the pain. most insurances will not pay for cosmetic stuff, however as a paying member, you do have the right to appeal thru your benefits office to get botox covered for treatment for other disorders. Also, i saw the other persons answer of gabapentin, i work for a major pharmaceutical company and gabapentin is an anticonvulsion medication so i doubt it would help your wife. And TCA is used for dermatological problems and genital warts...the only thing im aware of is Botox. feel free to research it. i always look on web md.

Yes. There is no medicine in this world to treat TN. Painkillers kill the patient and not the disease.
Acupuncture is the only trutsworthy treatment available on this planet. Please search out an expert acupuncturist and approach him without loss of time, otherwise think visiting us.
