existence of a higher power (God) ? If we have nothing to believe in, what is our reason for being here. It is good to get other views, but the negative aspect of the existence of God is very disturbing. I for one, believe, but it appears the majority do not.

From a statistical standpoint, in this forum you are dealing with a skewed sampling. What I mean is, is that this is not a reasonable, random percentage of the world's population. Atheists and agnostics worldwide (according the last figures I've seen) are outnumbered by at least 10 to 1. They are the minority. They also have the loudest mouths (in general) around here. So it's really not a fair indication of what the majority think.

Do I believe in God? Sure, but I got no faith. I'm not really sure the Higher Power is sane. If we have nothing to believe in...? I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If nothing we do matters, then the only thing that matters is what we do.

I believe. My son just got baptised a few months ago and it was the proudest moment of my life. We just have to follow gods word and let people know about him. Its up to them to believe. I just pray that a lot more people believe before the end of time. And nobody knows when that is except the lord. Its sad to know that some people don't believe though.

whats "disturbing" about the existance of God?

all the "disturbing" things I "believe" in are either historical wrongdoings, or evil things (not things I'd attach to the existance of God, in fact that relieves some of the "disturbance" from their existance.

I do believe in higher powers: The rule of law. The Bill of Rights. The Constitution. Those are all the higher powers anyone needs.

All I can say is that a person who cannot accept the complete evidence for the futility of existence without turning to some sort of method of coping, like religion, that sort of person is weak.

Call it PRIDE of having a bigger EGO than others do. It's just like what 'Dirty' Harry said, "Opinions are like a**holes. Everybody's got one... except some are bigger."

LOL.

But I do hope that by "majority" you do mean only those times when you logged in here at the same time that *they* have... don't you??

Peace be with you.

Yes, in a away it is. But most importantly is the number who doubt the existance of Jesus and his death, his burial and resurrection. As Jesus says; I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh to the Father but my me.

And they have that right notto believe. Why should we be any different from the apostles, even Thomas doubted.. And lets face it, what has God done for us lately?

I believe, and we are in good company, I will stand with God through any and all tribulation and I will continue to love those who would take away my belief and I will tell them of the love of Jesus Christ and that he died for their sins and mine.

We are in the company of great men and women of history and we should be proud to be Christians. We stand with giants of all ages and we are brothers and sisters of the King of Kings and Lord of lords.

Christians need to understand who we are and who saved us, we must lift our heads and smile at the ememy for they have no power over those who are in Christ.

Pray for those who hate our Lord, show them your love because he died for them and would not have any of them perish. Pray for our nation and our leaders ans we are commanded to do. Have patience and faith for our time is about to come.

I hear the sound of a might rushing wind and we need to try to help all we can now. Don't retutn anger for anger but love for hatred. If they laugh at you tell them of your Lord anyway, if they scoff at you tell them what Jesus has done for you lately.

We are to be little Christ, we fail but we need to try, strive to let others see Jesus in you life and in your words. And after all hjas been said and done stand in the Lord and his righteousness.

Praise God and his only son Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

I find it hard to believe, its so hard to accept that some people will not embrace their Fathers Love simply because of pride and self-indulgence.

It's hard to watch someone drowning and you throw them the life jacket and they refuse to get it, because they are so sure they can pull them selves out with no problem. God Bless. Love. Amen.
