It would be a wounderful idea. After crossing a desert and risking their lives to get to this great nation, it would be nothing for them to go back out to the deserts of IRAQ and fight bravely against those terrorist. This will give them the chance to prove that they are worthy to be in this nation and to show the Americans and the world their loyalty and greatfulness to this nation. By the way, the Arms services have a hard time making their quota because there not too many brave americans enlisting.

first at all i believe than the situation in Iraq will get much worst . in my opinion ( the one i have always had ) America should had never invaded Iraq but we are there and we cannot let any extremist Muslim take over . i personally if was drafted would have not problem in fighting for a free of terrorism world , i am Hispanic and i am not afraid of anything .
i find very hypocritical anyone saying to be a real American and wanting to send someone else to defend its country . it was done in the past and should not happen in the future . if anyone wants to defend America i say go ahead but i would never ask anyone to fight for me just to prove he/she is worth America . none can say why don't u prove u want to be here and at the same time not offering himself or herself to do the same .
i also agree than Iraq had nothing to do with the war on terror at first , but as it is it has become a place were terrorist are being grown and trained by the most evil minds we had ever encounter . this problem needs to be fix and if i have to do it myself i have not problem with that of course i hope to be helped by other brave Americans and i hope than everyone who is a real man is included .
note : i also wanted to add than there is actually many foreigners in the military today which were granted their citizenship and entered or were brought illegally to this country .

I think it's a bad idea, but I wouldn't have a problem with giving them the option of enlisting if they want to stay. There are two problems with automatically drafting illegal immigrants. First, they're unlikely to make good soldiers if they aren't there by choice. The second is that it would be a good way to put 5th columnists in the military. Terrorist groups and hostile governments could just send people across the border, knowing that if they get picked by the INS they'll end up on an army base.

I don't think offering to die for a country just because you want to live in it,is any reason to place more weapons in the hands of the enemy.Military life take discipline, and obedience to follow orders. Some people just aren't cut out for that type of life.
I do know that many Mexican Americans have served bravely in our armed forces,as well as other legal immigrants have. They are courageous and they love this nation. But to use possible death in a far off land as an entry into the USA ,Id say no to that.Although I do think that every person that is a citizen should serve at least 2 years in some sort of military training.I am for reinstatement of the draft. But I do not support placing WMD into illegal alien hands.

Nope. Drafting is a bad idea and would generate draftees with poor morale, bad discipline, and a tendency to go to Canada.
Of course, the deterrant effect might be what you're after, in which case the idea is good, but would probably be of limited effectiveness.
In case you haven't noticed already, quite a number of GIs ARE already foreign nationals who thought that joining the army would be a good way to earn their citizenship. Most of those were legal immigrant from the start, though.
And I've not been in the military because I am physically unable to do so... Even if I did not have philosophical reasons for not wanting to join such an outfit (like refusing to put myself under the orders of mostly fools).
EDIT : Being unable to engage in any physically strenuous activity IS incompatible with being in the military. I was weeded out when screened for induction. To boot, I would have pretty little faith in a military whose membership included a significant percentage of folk unable to double as combat personnel at need, except at the rearmost echelon. BTW, what is YOUR military status Mr Gung Ho patriot?

What in the world makes you think that someone who's broken our laws to invade our country illegally would actually follow the rules of our military? How could they possibly make a wonderful military candidate? First, they're already criminals for not immigrating into our country the legal and right way - no military would have it. Most of the nation is in hate mode because of it, so Joe Blow next door, and the millions just like him surely wouldn't be too keen on the idea.
Also, just because they escaped to America doesn't mean they're willing to fight for her, just as many Amercians wouldn't even do it, and it's their birthplace. Some are just looking for an escape and it just happens that we're the closest. Some have come here illegally because they know damn good and well they wouldn't be allowed in otherwise due to their seedy pasts, so signing up with our national law enforcement would be like just turning themselves in. Not all, but some. For those illegals who enter America on behalf of their families, who can't wait on our legal system to get a better life - they're too damn busy trying to get things going for an honest living, it's not an option.

That contradicts your own logic; think about it, why would you trust National Security to the same people you bash for every reason that enters your mind? In your blind need to make yet another joke, you've also overlooked the vital fact that Military Service is a job, not the stereotypical "punishment" that you so eagerly imply.
Seriously, don't you have other interests?

I don't think we are fighting the terrorists in Iraq. Just the people who are trying to free Iraq from foreign occupation. If some foreign nation occupied USA, you will fight too. Would u like to be called a terrorist. The idea is brilliant but your perception on Iraq war is just naive.

I don't think it would be a good idea. But I think if the armed forces were comprised of only illegal immigrants, it would make this country look bad. It's as if to say, we don't want to fight for ourselves so we let foreigners do it for us.
Where's the patriotism in that?
