personally i use to do it and still do it depending on the situation, a lot of people I know do it.
When I first started there was no Under Armor clothes like they do now. So to avoid chaffing and other discomforts we do go commando. But with the high-tech underwear "stay-dry" it is less hazardous especially when you got a place with lots of ants, insects, and sticky bushes and stuff. Than again if I m out in the woods for a long time with no laundry or resupply than I do go commando because dont have space and money for all that nice stuff. And all this high tech clothing will melt on you when under intense heat, and cotton underwear gets wet from sweat and stays wet even when it is cold.

I started going commando in the Army and now that I'm out I only wear underwear when I work out (I know that was too much info).

I dont think that they go commando, they are just used to operating under someone elses orders and when they are left to figure things out on their own, thought processes become blurred and they kind of resort to what they are comfortable with; sometimes the behavior is irrational.

I'm military, and I don't. Most of the people I know don't, but sometimes, when you're in the field with no showers, no laundry, you do go commando on occasion.

It's not just a story. Some of us do go "commando."
Its just a preference thing, personally I enjoy it because its cooler, less laundry to do, and takes up less space (very important when you live out of your ruck).

Sure do. If you don't then you'll get rubbed raw on road marches.
