Totally different type of program.

Adobe Photoshop is image editing

Corel Draw is vector drawing.

Completely different approach to graphics. Comparing them is comparing apples to oranges. It's pointless.

As for research, you can do your own.

Don't use Corel Draw. Use Adobe Illustrator. They are similar programs (they are both vector drawing programs), but Illustrator integrates well with Photoshop while Corel Draw will not. The differences: a vector drawing program uses mathematical formulas to create lines, points and curves. Because it is mathematically based (don't worry, the math part is all done by the program itself) rather than pixel based (Photoshop is a pixel/raster based program) it is not restricted by resolution. So in a vector drawing program, you can create a logo, for example, that can be used at many different sizes, such as for a business card, on letterhead, on a t-shirt, on a billboard, all at different sizes with no loss of quality. Hope that helps. For learning the basics of Illustrator, I recommend the book The Adobe Illustrator Visual Quickstart Guide. Note, if you have ever used the Pen Tool in Photoshop, you already know some of the basics of a vector drawing program.

PS and Corel are similar, if you have all the corel modules. Corel is more of a design application but with the tools to modify pictures. I have both and prefer photoshop(pro) for working with photos. I use corel for art work mostly but will insert photos and crop or modify them if needed. cost wise, for the full version of either expect to spend a couple hundred bucks which I suggest you do to get the support your going to need as a new user. Free copies are nice but the support and upgrades are worth it if your serious about learning and making use of all the functions. Their both pretty powerfull packages.
