Not if you don't feel it's the right thing to do. I graduated five years ago...and joined the navy right out of high school. It made me the person I am today. I got my degree at the same time as I did my service. You have to learn to be independent in today's world. Many kids go to college as an extension of high school, and don't really grow up until they're 25 or 26. Personally, I think that's pathetic. There comes a time in a man's life where he has to stand on his own two feet and do what's right. Some are forced to do it earlier, and some choose to. Either way, they're stronger people in the long run. If you stay at home under the shadow of your parents, you'll probably never escape it. Just speaking from experience with some of my friends. They're 25 years old, with college degrees, still living at home, still working in pointless jobs because they aren't able to cut the umbilical cord that ties them to their parents. Branch out, take risks, and speak with your own voice.
Best of luck whatever you decide.

I stayed home during college, and it kinda sucked. I had to commute pretty far, and my 'rents were all up in my b-i-z. However, I got free food, free rent, and a few extra bucks when I 4-0'd a class. I would do it over though, because it's only a few years of your life, and once you're done you can do what you want to after you get out on your own. So my advice would be to do it if you can stand your family during that time, purely for the financial reasons.

You know, I did NOT have any choice about what my situation would be while I was paying my own way through College -- for my siblings and I buried our parents as very young adults, and we had to pay our own way .. and did this while in the Military.

yes if they are paying for your college , why would you expect them to pay for room and board some where else, when you have a room at home, if you do not wish to stay at home , get a job and pay your own way, no one owes you an education , you need to earn it

Do you have money to pay for your own place? Unless they're willing to foot the bill for room and board, you don't have much choice.
Get a job and start saving up your money to cover your own living expenses--and maybe tuition, if you tick them off enough--next year.

No. At 18 I took control of my life and I have never relinquished it. I do what I want, and I take responsibility for my actions. It's what being an adult is all about.

Probably. As long as they give me freedom to hang with my friends on a more frequent basis.
