a lot of people said they wouldn't want that. Why? WTF does your religion have to do with having good leadership skills? (assuming s/he wouldn't try to convert anyone)

Interesting idea, do you know an atheist that has the qualifications and wants to be President? Although God is a leader and we should try to follow his example, few if any US Presidents have ever set an example worthy of following. However, many US Presidents have done excellent jobs in other rolls. Do you honestly believe that GW Bush or Bill Clinton are true Christians? Look at GW's wishy washy decision on stem cell's and Bill's don't ask don't tell policy. If you can find a true leader, with a consistent morale fiber, he or she would have an excellent chance of being elected. Who do you have in mind?

I just don't think I would want somebody in the most powerful position in the world who had such faulty thinking. Atheism just doesn't make any sense. You're saying, in essense, that you know for certain that there is no God. How could anyone know that for certain? You're trying to prove a universal negative. It can't be done.
The universe obeys certain rules-----laws to which all things must adhere. These laws are precise and many of them are mathematical in nature. Natural laws are hierarchical in nature; secondary laws of nature are based upon primary laws of nature, which have to be just exactly right in order for our universe to be possible. There are constants(gravitational and cosmological and others) in our universe which must be exact within infinitesmal parameters in order for life to exist(that’s called the anthropic principle). But, where did these laws and constants come from and why do they exist? If the universe were merely the accidental by-product of a big bang, then why should it obey orderly principles----or any principles at all for that matter? Since when does order come out of an explosion? Chaos comes out of an explosion. By the way, what, exactly, did explode? There was no matter there to explode before the big bang since the big bang is the start of all matter and energy as well as the 4 dimensions(3 dimensions of space and one dimention of time). The atheist cannot account for these laws of nature(even though he agrees that they must exist), for such laws are inconsistent with naturalism. Yet, they are perfectly consistent with the bible. We expect the universe to be organized in a logical, orderly fashion and to obey uniform laws because the universe has a creator God who is logical and has imposed order on His universe(Genesis 1:1).

Don't expect a satisfying answer. You'll get a variation of: atheists don't have morals, the president should represent the general Christian public, the nation was founded on Christian blah blah blah.

Its probably because atheist don't have morals or the intelligence to make a good leader. There is no way to predict what they would do under a given circumstance, they could run when they need to make a stand or make a stand when they should run.

Good leaders are open minded and can't just see things one way and atheist seem to very close minded.
