My being an atheist is the result of rejecting ALL religions, not just christianity.
I would say that, in general, christians are the most hypocritical though; that is, they are most likely to not practice what they preach.

I don't think the church or the behavior of the Christians around me had much to do with what I believe. The Christians in my country generally behave better and closer to what their religion teaches them than for example most of the Christians here on Y!A.
But religions have never presented anything credible to me. They are full of silly explanations for things we now understand better, which leads me to believe religions are all man-made and that those "holy books" were written by men who wanted to control the masses and get people to follow some rules. As for god, I have never seen anything that convinces me of his existence and the more I learn about religions and observe the crap that happens in the world, the more I'm sure that god doesn't exist elsewhere than in people's imagination.

Neither has any result on God's ability to resurrect us. no matter if someone is buried, extremely than cremated, the body finally decays. The Bible claims that we are raised in a "non secular body" extremely than a "organic body." (1st Corinthians 15:40 4) If Christians used to trust that cremation replaced into incorrect (i have met some that still do) they are incorrect. The body is going decrease back to the dirt from which it replaced into made, besides the indisputable fact that the spirit lives perpetually. Yours in Christ, Nick

that reason is why i haven't been in a church for more than 15 years, except for 2 weddings and 3 funerals. Churches have more money than most governments, yet still demand 10% of the wages of the poor

Christians themselves didn't affect my belief...... people are people and I accept that there will be both good and bad in any group.
Reading the bible is what allowed me to see Christianity for what it is.... A mythology created by primitive, desert dwelling men to explain their understanding of the world around them and life lessons they wanted implemented into their society.
The New Testement was just a revision of some of the outdated rules.

It's possible that when you say organizations you hit the nail on the head. Christians are individuals that God has called out of the world and false religion etc.

going to a religious school made me an atheist. i don't think that they are primarily driven by hate and greed. your average practising christian are usually decent people who are institutionalised into Christianity. it's the 'party faithful' who are the problem, like communist ideologues, they place the 'party' above the people. any means justify the end. they want a world of peace and love and are willing to kill, lie, cheat and steal to get it.

In my case, they have affected it not at all. I drew my own conclusions when I was young, and have encountered no reason to change them.
