Try a hot cup of soothing herbal tea with a little lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey and a shot of your favorite whiskey. Mine is bourbon. And the tea should have only natural caffeine if any at all. Stores carry a relaxing herbal tea just for night time and with the other above mentioned ingredients that should do the trick. Try about 3/4 Coffey cup full you don't want to much liquids just before bed. Works for me & Good Luck!

Well, when you say you are sleeping, you may actually lying on the bed, but practically you are not sleeping. You feel tired because of lack of sleep.
There are several factors responsible for sleeplessness.
*Lack of or no physical work or exercise.
*Good nutrition- take good amount of fresh fruits and vegtables as salad.
*Mental tensions or problems
*Bed room conditions like too much light or sound or any other thing that is disturbing your sleep.
Take up any game or exercise for relaxation and exercise.
Take up yoga and meditation for relaxation and to reduce mental stress.
Listen to some soft and light music in low volume at the bedtime.
Check the colour of your bed and night lamp, They should be soft and pleasant shades.
I had this problem earlier and I overcome this mainly with exercise, music and yoga.
Good luck, HAPPY SLEEPING.

Laugh if you will but drink that big glass of warm milk 1/2 hour before bedtime. Make sure your room is dark, quiet and cool (blankets to cover you for warmth). Pillows are important, do you need 1 or 2, maybe three. Comfy pj's are a must. I'd go on but I'm getting sleepy just talking about it, time for lites out.

maybe there's something bothering you, whether you know it or not, some worries, troubles...
I can't sleep well and not a lot mainly cause of that, can't stop thinking of things that's happened to me...
Like you I'm against meds.
I haven't been sleeping more than 3-4 hours a night for months and am dead tired during the day and sometimes fall asleep for a min when I'm just here using my computer and it's boring !
maybe go see your doc !
good luck !
