I have an 04 Neon SXT with a 5-speed manual,SOHC,2.0L and I was wondering if I can put an SRT-4 Turbo on it without having to worry about anything not hooking up or working correctly. Also I dont care if the turbo was to be stock or aftermarket, but I will most likely put on a a stock turbo if it was to work.

no an srt-4 turbo won't go onto that engine but they do make aftermarket turbos for it, the reason the srt wont work is they are completly different engines and for a turbo upgrade you'd want a whole kit with a intercooler and all that. You probably won't get much of a HP upgrade either unless you put some bigger exhaust and better air. Now granted after you do all that and pay $4500 for it all that's installing it yourself unless the turbo was used you'll be pulling around a total of 20-26 HP gain so instead of the stock neon HP of 145 you'll still be under 200HP you should have just gotten the srt-4.

This is the third time in a week this question has come up. I own an '05 SRT-4 and an '02 R/T. They are nothing alike. The amount of work involved in this modification is tremendous. Just getting the engine and transmission and the running gear is not enough. For example, without the factory wiring harness and cat front exhaust system, the car will miserably flunk any emission test. I also doubt the intercooler will fit in a regular Neon. The hood is unique to the SRT-4 / SRT decor vehicles, etc. As the other responders recommended - just get an SRT-4.

It would be difficult and not really worth it. If you were to find the full engine setup on ebay for instance, it would most likely be over four grand. It requires new mounts, tranny, PCM, wiring harrnesses, re-routeing of things such as heater hoses and fuel lines. It is really worth selling the neon you have for around two grand and take thet and the four grand you would save and buy yourself a real srt-4
