Our national debt has risen in the dollar amount, but it has lessened as a portion of Gross Domestic Product.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._public_debt
The countries that are our friends continue to be. France has always been duplicitous.
President Bush and his cabinet have done a remarkable job considering what has happened.
Surveys, either domestic or international, just reflect the public's ignorance. They also reflect how well the Saudis have spent their funds on public relations. They have spent on madrassa schools to teach children to hate and become terrorists and they have spent elsewhere to get everyone else to overlook it!
What is disheartening is how many people hate their country and its president. Would you rather have Chavez or Ahmadinejad as president? Maybe a liar like John Kerry would suit you better.

Yes, some use the tired out euphemism military spending but that's skirting the truth... Bush's and Cheney's cronies are profiteering in Afghanistan and Irak, and those other incompetent, inept, deadbeats who are awarded contracts and getting outrageous fees. Every time we turn around, another crony is getting some high-paying influential job/post (remember Brown in F.E.M.A?) or some other "department" or "agency" is being invented for the purpose of hiring political cronies. Look at the wastefulness and monies given to other governments that never reaches the intended victims of natural disasters, droughts, hunger, malnutrition, poverty, etc., but is kept by those in power... that goes on a daily basis... and you ask?
Yes, President Bush and his henchmen in the White House have done a marvelous job at absconding and mishandling our surplus for Social Security and Medicare benefits for our elderly, retired and disabled... look at the aftermath of Katrina in Louisiana... wow, what a "great job" they've done at doing nothing... (I'm being grossly cynical, in case you're wondering). Our poor, elderly, disabled and retired are now worse off... still living in substandard homes (including NYC, the supposed "Greatest" city in the world) and still doing without some necessities...
Yeah... I love bush but not Dubya or any of his Geztapo relatives!

Due to war spending, which was necessary.
Some of the other countries had some dealings with Iraq. That was why they didn't want the war.
He's doing what is right - and Kerry wouldn't have been able to do half as good of a job as Bush.
