I believe it is authorized as long as you list it as one of your prescription medications when you report for training. And even if they don't use it to skip their periods, which is possible, it will at least keep them regular through the training, not to mention that **** happens and getting knocked up, either by choice or not, during boot camp is bad juju. And like someone else pointed out, there could be an actual medical reason behind them taking it, and why would the military take extra measures to intentionally cause medical problems that early in the game?

.I am no expert but when boot camp is over I would guess that the women would be going out in to the Army where there will be many men trying to get into there pants no matter how ugly they are. With birth control don't you have to keep taking it for a while and not stop taking it before it will be affective. They cant help the war effort in Iraq if they are pregnant

sometimes, birth control is prescribed to controll hormone imbalances, irregular periods, or even skin problems ...


it has more uses medically than to just prevent unwanted pregnancy..

It used to be true back in the early 1980's when I was in. They were prescribed to prevent unwanted pregnancies due to rape. Yes, rape DOES occur in BCT/AIT...more than you realize. Before the 1980's, they used to put Salt Peter *sp* in the male's food to prevent the 'urge'....but it was deemed unconstitutional AND it didn't work on all the males...

You have to keep taking them or you run the risk of messing up your hormonal cycles.

they could use it to skip their periods. that's what i would do. or for the fact that they don't want to be preggy...but not likely
