I know the people I am babysitting and I have known them for the past two years although we are not entirely close. The 11 year old is a girl and she can help me out with the 2 year old. I'm also pretty sure that the 9 and 7 year old are controllable... at least I think they are because that's how they act in public.

Please I need answers! I am babysitting tomorrow. Vancouver time!

GBP£5 an hour is avg in the UK, which is about Can$11. You are, however, babysitting 4 kids, so that should keep your wage within the high range of your local average rate. Also, you're only doing 3 hours, so that should keep your hourly rate quite high (after all, you can't do anything else that night).

If you want to make a good impression, why not turn up with a well-stocked first aid box, make it clear to them you want to know all emergency phone numbers (who to call in the event of a gas leak, etc, where to go, plumber's number, electricians's no.). In short make it sound like you're worth Can$15 an hour - every single week :-D

I would say do, you probably could charge more if you have to feed them dinner or lunch. I know when I baby sat I got paid $20 for about 2 1/2 hours for watching two well behaved kids (they were just in bed sleeping ages 6 and 7)

I would charge an hourly rate.
Maybe $5 per hour. I used to charge $3 per hour but that was 20 yrs ago. Maybe double that to $6.

You should charge like $30 -40. You don't want to charge too much cuz with four kids, maybe they don't make too much. But if they seem like they make pretty good money, charge hourly.

Maybe you should set your fees. Write them down somewhere like For one hour I will charge 3 dollars or something like that hope it works!

I heard the normal amount now is 4 dollars per hour. If you have more kids I would round it up to five or so. Thats not bad though, five dollars an hour. I would pay that!
