I've been looking around for information about these things, but I'm not really sure what I want to do about it.

There are thousands of scholarships out there on different topics and can be located in a variety of different places. It is never too early to start searching for them. Just remember, it takes time to hear back in regards to being selected or not. All of these sources are free to access.

First, filling out the FAFSA will help you tap into need based financial aid with the federal, state and the college sources. It is based on family income and resources.

Second, if still in high school, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for its students to apply for consideration.

Third, the college's financial aid office and website have a list of private scholarships from companies and organizations.

Fourth, go to the public library because they have a scholarship list book. There are scholarships in there that are not even listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on the information you enter into a form.

Good luck!
