Some biblical scholars I know say that the dinosaurs were created by god as a great big ol' practical joke to test his believers.

If god exists, it created absolutely everything including life, dinosaurs, humans, sin, evil, love . . . everything.
As for the timing, I haven't a clue on that. Some say god created fossils, some say god created dinosaurs before Adam and Eve, some say god created nothing . . . .
There isn't a proven answer. If there was, I'm not sure we'd all still be arguing about it.

First of all, disregard any comments from religious cynics, agnostics, atheists, etc.
According to Genesis, God first made the heavens and the earth, then light b/c the heavens and earth was dark and empty, and continued with water and sky, land and seas, vegetation, day and night, living creatures and animals, and finally man. Man was made in His own image and he gave man everything he needed to sustain himself.
Now the earth is supposedly some 4 billion years old. Dinosaurs are belived to have appeard some 200 million + years ago. People supposedly appeared 65 million years after the dinosaurs died out.
Yes, God created every living and non-living thing, dinosaurs included, and has always had control of every molecule in existence.

It is believed that God created dinosaurs the same day as Adam and Eve but they died off in the great flood with Noah's Ark.
By the way, God did not create evil. He created Lucifer whose pride became evil. But that's a whole different subject.

God created dinosaurs and He probably created them before Adam and Eve. Our time realm and God's are not the same. So it is hard to say.

Good question.
If you read Genesis, you will find that God created the universe and when he put the Earth together, he created light and dark and then the land and water. He first created animal life and then he made Adam out of the clay of the earth and set him down to take care of all that he had created. When God saw that Adam was not happy and very lonely, God put him into a deep sleep and removed one of his ribs and made the woman for him. God named her Eve. And so, the answer to your question is that animal life sprang forth before mankind.
