I have a 2 year old daughter and I'm on a limited budget. What are some inexpensive ways to make her room cuter? Right now it's just a crib and a dresser. She really likes Elmo, so I'd like to include him in the decorations.

We are renting, so we can't paint or put wallpaper up.

The removable stickers work well. I also printed coloring sheets, colored them and cut them out. Used removable tape to tap them the walls. Now I am using fabric. Cut out the character you want dip it in liquid starch (I use a blue bottle called Sta-Flo). Hold it up and slide your fingers down to remove the excess and stick it to the wall. Let it dry. When you are ready to change it, remove it with water. For a few cents you can buy new light swith covers and use the fabric starch on those too. When you are ready to move put back on the old ones.

Well I think chalkboard paint is a great idea for learning children...
You can buy it in gallons at your local home depot or lowes, and it is a wonderful tool to encourage creativity, and leaning. You could draw a big picture of elmo at the top of the board so your daughter couldn't reach it to erase it.

Go to Ebay & start searching. There are alot of people there that do costum painting & could paint a picture of your daughter & Elmo for as litle as 30 to 40 dollars.

Go to wall mart they have removable stickies that you can use to decorate your room.

Another Idea is to get different color poster board and draw large crayons or your desired design, cut them out and use two sided tape or some other good sticky stuff to stick them to the walls.

Or just line the poster board along the bottom half of the wall that way she can "draw" or design her own walls :-)

I know the feeling of limited budget. Have 3 kids and renting as well.

Good luck!

Solicit a cheap, but great artist in your area, supply the paint and let him/ her go for it.
