Hi...i totally understand, and guy,s get it too. I resorted to steroids when i was younger, now i work out without them...but my body dysmorphia went from my body to my lack of hair. It is so frustrating, iam going to a psychologist, and realize that my problem will just be replaced by another obsession,if i don,t continue therapy/minor meds...women do this alot with cosmetic surgery...sooo,i feel your pain, and you are not alone...you will ask people am i attractive, they will say yes...but you won,t believe it. It is a psychological, real problem...but you will get better, and you will get mentally stronger over time...and you will become an even more understanding person to others, problems as you get older... My outlook is...we have this disease...it's tough, but yet we are lucky in some ways because we get more patient and understanding to others....just my thoughts...by the way mirrors lie, they only are a reflection about your irrational perceptions....you look great, remember that

A good friend of mine has this disorder - combined with obsessive compulsive disorder. She found counselling the key to learning to cope. She is doing really well now! You can do it, but don't try to do it on your own. Accept some help from someone who's properly trained. Good luck!

it definitely could be BDD. Doctors questioned me having BDD because I have a problem with my mouth, and I always have to cover it when i'm having a conversation with someone because i always think they are staring at my mouth. they haven't fully diagnosed me with it yet. you should tell a doctor.

A Doctor/professional would have to tell you. BDD can be extreme, but milder would be harder to tell, and no one can diagnose over the Internet.

Don't worry so much about labels or about "what you have."

Why not do some exercise or work on changing what you don't like? Is it your body? Is it something else?

Me too. I find myself completely unappealing, but my friends disagree... I worry about their sanity... [JK] But I'm with you on the needing more confidence/self-esteem.
