Pretty much you can put a variety of creams on to reduce sensitivity and to hide the peeling skin by keeping moist. As far as making it heal faster....nope, sorry it takes just as long if you do something versus doing nothing. Depending on what you put on it, you may actually cause and allergic reaction since your skin is sensitized to the damage already there so keep it simple.

If you have a lot of pain to a small area of skin that is worse than other spots, you can try to use a numbing agent. Solarcaine,Lanacaine or simply use what I recommend... Baby Oragel. I recommend this because the formula is simple and less likely to cause an irritation on it's own by using it.

If the skin is burned enough to be weeping and or bleeding then e-mail me for simple things you can do to quicken the repair. By quicken I mean to prevent infections that can keep it damaged for longer than it should be repaired on it's own

The best treatment is to take a tea bag and let it soak in some water for about 20 mins. Squeeze water out of the bag into the container, but do not break the bag open. Then use the bag and dip it into the container of tea you have and pat the tea on the areas of your sunburn. Let the tea air dry do not rub it off, this will cool, soothe and stop the burning of the your sunburn. The tanic acid in the tea is the healing chemical. My mother used to do this toi me when i was a child and it sure help stop the itching and burning. You vcan apply this tea when ever the buring starts again, or when it feels hot. I have had patients tell me that this has helped them.

Besides slathering on the Aloe Vera, try eating or taking supplements with Beta Carotene and trace minerals and omega 3 fatty acids (salmon, supplements). The skin loses these minerals and oils when it is damaged by sun either through burns or tanning. Your skin will also be very dry so drink plenty of water.

I like Burt's Bee's Carrot Lotion and Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream salve. Both of these products will speed healing.

So head to your health food store, and next time, go with some sunscreen and try the tan that comes in a bottle! :)

F.Y.I.
Sun damaged skin wrinkles, sags, discolors and ages faster due to the UVA and UVB rays that damage the collagen and elastin in your skin. That's not including an increased risk for skin cancer! This comes in the form of the sun AND tanning beds. Even tanned skin is damaged skin.

Last Note:

E. Arden cream can be found at Dept. stores.

OUch. Sunburn makes you feel like you are on fire and really messes with your skin.

NOXEMA SKIN CREME.

I swear by Noxema as a remedy for sunburn. Just apply it to the reddened skin areas, on your face shoulders, arms, legs, ecetera
This product has eucylptus and menthol in it which cools the burn.
But don't let it get in your eyes. You can use cool compresses for that. YOur skin will peel and you will be back in shape again, never to let yourself burn like that again!

If you have an aloe vera plant. cut and split open a couple of leaves. Gently pat the jelly like sap over the burn. Cover with a clean dry cotton cloth. And stay out of the sun or wear sunblock.

I always take a hot shower. I have the water as hot as I can withstand. When I dry off I just pat the skin and I don't rub the towel across my body. I don't know why or how it works but it does for me.

Go to your grocery or Wal-Mart store whatever & go to the first aid isle. Look for a spray called SOLARCAINE. It takes the fire out & soothes it & it will help it to heal....
