In the old days all babies were breastfed until 4. Also, the medical community considers a 4 y/o to be a baby.
Your child has 80 years to be all grown up. Let him be a baby while he is a baby.
That said, they will both tire of it very soon, and it should end on it's own.
P.S. Unwanted marital advice: to stay happily married drop the phrase "make her" from your vocabulary.

YES!! MAKE HER STOP BREAST FEEDING!! And when you re son gets older, Don't EVER tell him how long he was breast feeding, he will have nightmares...until he is 30. I have a Friend who has social anxiety disorder because hi mother breast fed him too long(he was about 5 or 6), Its not good for his head, if you stop him now you may be able to reverse any mental effects if any, he's still 4 so it probably wont mess him up , at least nothing that time and a lack of childhood memories (how much do you remember from when you were 4?) shouldn't take care of.

If your child and wife are comfortable still breastfeeding than that is fine.We Americans wean very early compared to the average global age of 4 years old.I support extended nursing because it makes more sense than your kid drinking a cows boob milk...he should have human milk since that is what he is! The people answering your question are dense, shallow and uneducated. It is not a form of molestation that's crazy...you cant force a child to breastfeed and that is what molestation is...forcing a child to do something sexual. Our breasts are only a bonus sexually but their main purpose is to feed a child and if nature thought it was wrong than breast milk would dry up at 6 months according to some that say that six months is all that should be done.....beyond stupid and uneducated.By the way NBA star Michael Jordan was breastfed until he was almost four....sure messed him up didn't it?

In some cultures it is seen as perfectly normal to breastfeed your children until they are as old as ten. However, the sucking thing can damage your child's teeth severely. That is why they should be taken off bottles by age one. The spill proof sippy cups are also bad for their teeth. How many times a day is she breastfeeding your child? It should definately not be more than maybe once a day or possibly every other day. If she is doing it more than that, then she is going to have to stop.

Yes, I don't think that she should still be breast feeding your son at 4 years old. He is going to in kindergarten soon and will not have breast milk at school. Why is she still breast feeding any way?

I am a mother of two, while there isnt any shame involved... it is still wierd, when your child can ask mommy for some milk from her boobie, then it is time to cut them off, besides the fact that most people bottle break thier babies by age two and or three, your child should be on a sippy cup, no harm no foul, happy holidays

I personally breast fed my children to one years of age. After that the food that he consumes gives him the nutriments he needs to live. The only reason for breastfeeding is to help a defenseless child into this curl world of diseases.

Four??! Wow thats a bit much, don;t you think? Sit your wife down in a calm matter and explain to her you feel that it is time she stopped, before he gets overly attached and never grows out of a baby-ish phase.
