I feel sorry for you and I'm not kidding a bit. Jesus loves you and He is real. His love for you is the same as it is for me. He died so you may be forgiven your sins and meet your Creator in person at some time in your future. I beg you to stop listening to others and read for yourself the things Jesus has said and done for you and reported not by one person but many in those days. What He is and what He did was as real as the earth under your feet. Please give Him a chance in your life. It's so very simple.

Although I am certainly not an advocate for or against Christianity, I will say that the Bible is certainly the most misinterpreted book ever produced.

I feel that many forget that portions of the Bible are parables. These stories are taught as a means of better understanding ones faith, not necessarily as a literal truth. Many of these stories were passed down word of mouth through the generations so that people could better understand the nature of God.

Even if these can be taken as literal truth, the subject matter behind it is often conflicting, based on the fact that many books were belonging to early Christian tribes, and not consolodated until Constantine came along. Diffferent groups had different stories used, and thus different meanings they were trying to get across. As a result, the Bible can be used to support ANY viewpoint, no matter how obsurd.

Then again, maybe the bible was written by God, through man, in order to confuse the hell out of people, and keep them on their toes.

What flying spirits?

In Noahs day, all land was in one piece. Ever read of Pangea? Look at a map of the world. see? They all fit together.

Also, If you say that that took millions of years, research in Ethiopia and Somalia, how the land just split open and scientists are baffled because that should have taken thousands of years.

God led the animals to the ark. They came to him.

Jesus did walk on water. And he was put to death for a reason.

Research Sodom and Gamorah. Actual places, mysteriously burned up. Sulfur and brimstone found there just like the Bible said.

Research the Edomites who anthropologists swore did not exist. They were a myth. But the bible said they existed. Now that their settlement has been discovered., again the bible was true.

Some things in the Bible are hard to believe. For me also, who believes that it is a gift inspired by God. But the more I look into it brother, the less I doubt.

I hope you find the truth. I hope we all do.

Jesus is lord.

When your young its quite easy
I was christian for 20 years. Believing that the bible is not literal is andmitting that the information comes from mankind, which we know is 'faulty'. Thats probably why Jesus is depicted as being the son of God or God, because of the understaning that man can be faulty and therefor able to be wrong.
I found that if the bible is not considered perfect somewhat then I would be forced to observe and draw conclusions my own self. And for a young person that can be scary.
With movies and shows and people constantly talking about the spirit world or God, in one form or another, and in so many conflicting ways, believing the bible is the most trustworthy and can bring alot of comfort. And believing it is literal even more stability
UNtill you read all of it.

I'm certainly sure you have often wondered why your here. What will happen when you pass on. If you really think that the bible is a farce than just look in the mirror and ask why. Something that looks as farfectched as the bible can only bring you into the everlasting glory of life after death. Ask God for help daily and you will see that the story goes on and on mindlessly. It is something that deeply is beyond recognisence, because our minds here on earth cannot fathom it.

Its something called faith! But I agree you cannot take the bible as a literal writing. It takes faith and many years of careful study to understand the bible passages.

Remember, through the grace of God and faith you are saved, not by any other means.

Some people have such faith. I don't, but I admire them for that, even IF they might be misguided--but of course, who are we to say?

We shouldn't dispute concerning things we don't absolutely know. Qur'an 65-66: "O People of the Scripture! Why will ye argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have ye then no sense? / Lo! ye are those who argue about that whereof ye have some knowledge: Why then argue ye concerning that whereof ye have no knowledge? Allah knoweth. Ye know not." With that, not one among us was alive when anything in the Torah, the Bible or the Qur'an happened. It is very admirable to believe and to discuss, but let's therefore "dispute not (except with means better than mere disputation)..."

I can say I've experienced phenomenon for which Naturalism as defined today is incapable of explaining. It is difficult for me to imagine just how that could have occured, but it came about in a way which was self-authenticating, and therefore secured justification for my belief in the supernatural.

When such justification is acquired, why am I not rational in assenting to the governing principles of the worldview from which the event arose?

The one that get's me is that the fall of man is due to a woman with an eating disorder that can't say no to an apple! When confining scripture tears families apart, when the dogma ends up breeding only dogs....that's when I sign off and look for a better story....one that doesn't declare my entire gender to be unclean and the root of the world's woes. If it is literal, I'm gonna spit at his feet on my way to hell.

I believe the Bible is literal. I believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God. I am a born-again Christian.
