My Wife still wipes our son after a movement, so we're both in the same boat!

Generally, he should be old enough to do so on his own but there is the possibility that he has tried and cut them too short or he just dislikes cutting his nails. I have a nephew who is 16 that from birth has had a hard time getting his nails cut and my sister has to hold him down to do so.

Also, I don't know of any 10 year olds that don't have to be pushed to take baths and brush.

The best answer to your question will come from your husband.

I wish you the best.

i am pretty sure that by ten, you can clip your own nails. I know a four year old that clips her own....but maybe your husband doesn't feel like he's ready. Or maybe there is a medical problem with the boy. You should ask before you criticize, because my mom has to clip my dad's toenails because he has diabetes. Why don't you just ask him instead of asking us??

I showed my daughter how to cut her own toenails and she does, she is 11 yrs. She is a smart girl. She does have some toe nails that are difficult to trim, but she will ask for help when she needs it.

He's only there 4 days a month...let Dad do some of the little things for his son. He doesn't get to spend much time with him as it is so let him do what he feels is right for he and his son's relationship while he's there. This shouldn't bother you so much.

maybe dad does it because he still sees him as being to small and hates the thought of him being old enough to do certain things.

At 10, he could do it by himself, but having someone else do it for him isn't wrong either .. and it's not being babied.
