The concept of love at first sight is a mis application of the true feelings a person experiences at the time and the subsequent emotions that emerge later.
How can anyone possible LOVE someone that they don't know?
The true meaning of love is that of a deep attachment for some one after having gone through an experience of bonding.
The closes anyone can ever get to love at first sight is a mother and new born baby.
The deep deep feelings an adolescence feels for another person on sight is indeed infatuation, for the personality of that one is unknown to them.
The way a person LOOKS is not an indication of what that one is like. Only a period of time with another will reveal the weather true love is going to grow.

I think it's to do with...well, it's all biology and genetics of course, but I believe it's to do with certain key factors like smell, face shape and body shape - these all being indicators of genetic compatibility/useful differences to counteract in any offspring the effects of your own genetic mutations, and also of fertility. True love - no idea. A load of balls I should think. A heady combination of pheromones, reflected narcissism and sexual anticipation. The only real love between non-related adults is not romantic at all, but founded on sibling-like links, or rather links that emotionally imitate blood-links. This can of course exist between people who have, or raise, a child together, and it can develop over time between people who don't have children but become each other's family. Anything else is just pure biology - which is why it tends to run out quite fast when the peak breeding/birthing.weaning period has elapsed - often far far (far) sooner.

Oh yes, there is love at first sight. When I first met Tom 19 yrs ago I knew it and we spent six hours in a coffee shop and after that another five hours at another coffee shop. I told my mother that I was going to marry him. He asked me if knew that. Well, we were together commuting two hours on the weekends. We finally did get married a year ago.

No...there is not.

There is only lust at first sight.

Love is an emotion which develops as you get to know someone.

People who get infactuated with someone are insecure people who are scared to lose him or her as they know it will be hard for them to find somebody else.
