I am living in Japan so sometimes I receive Japanese mail but what comes out are abnormal letters like xo? etc fom the mail (not readable). Is there anything I need to download so that my computer will be able to read Japanese. What should I do?

If you are using a Windows based computer, try going to support.microsoft.net. You may need to download the Japanese character set.

For the proper display of the different languages, you should get a REAL browser like FIREFOX. Then you can set the BROWSER to display JAPANESE in the Preferences--->Advanced-->General tabs. Yes, you can even add KLINGON to the displayed languages.

sometimes simply changing encoding may not work if u hadn't installed asian symbol files

go to Control Panel of Windows. U can c "Date, time, language, and regional options". press it. select "regional and language options". press it also. in "languages" tab check "Install files for East asian lanuages".

u need to insert Windows install disk.

try :) i also had same problem when i came to Korea. now i can read all korean, japanese, chinese ... symbols
