Boys like to tell stories that arent true, all humans do it but boys are famous for it. They lie about anything possible to get attention or to get a girl to like them or believe them. But they usually dig themselves deeper and fall in. And the only person to help them out is the person they lied to. There for girls barley ever believe boys, it becomes a matter of trust. If your trustworthy things will be different for you.
