No it is definitely not the same thing and it cannot be controlled. It is a subconscious thing. No amount of self control can prevent one. However, it could be argued that one could have more if they consciously fuel those erotic thoughts. In that case, you should probably worry about what your focus is.

A dream is just a dream and not the same as fornication. I don't think you can control it or need too.

Nope. And it is not considered a sin to have a wet dream in Islam, or any other major religion as far as I know.
This saying of the prophet will help put it more in context: "There are three whose actions are not recorded: a lunatic whose mind is deranged till he is restored to consciousness, a sleeper till he awakes, and a boy[girl] till he[she] reaches puberty. (Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 3, Hadith No. 4389)

It's fine. And so is "fornication" - it's just that your particular religion treats it as a "sin" for various reasons, for example to make you feel guilt and thus control you.

Control thy thoughts and you will not have erotic dreams. They're the best though aren't they?

If it is, then everyone would be sent to hell. So I doubt it. ;) And no.
