I suffer from pstd and get depressed as well as angry, and I also lean on being a Faith believer. So I tend not to like prescription drug use. What can be recommended?...

There is, unfortunately, not one single anti-depressant drug that works for everybody. The drug of choice is the one that works for you. I was on Prozac and it worked for me. You might try it and find that either it does not work or you get side effects that you do not like. In addition, each drug is designed to treat types of depression. The only way to find out which drug you should take is to talk with a psychiatrist.

Olanzapine, which I feel is the drug that Anurag C is regarding, seeing as there is not any such drug as olinzipine, is NOT an antidepressant drug. It's what is referred to as an antipsychotic drug, despite the fact that antidepressant medicinal drugs MAY be prescribed even as as antipsychotic medicinal drugs. One of the facet-results of olanzapine CAN be diabetes, however as I mentioned, it is not an antidepressant.

There is no such thing as the BEST antidepressant drug. Every individual has a different response to medication therefore what might work great for me may have a poorer result for you. You pretty much have to trust your Dr. to start you on a med, monitor the side effects and judge the change in your mood. Best of luck.

I have had really good results from Effexor. But, just because it works well for me doesn't necessarily mean it will work for everyone.

Good luck.
