Often mis-translated in many newer English versions, but true to form in King James English, French, German, Greek, etc...bibles
This full meaning is great for students and people involved in personal growth or training:
to appreciate whatever good there is already and to fully respect every bit of improvement or knowledge gained,
but not to sit on our laurels or get conceited about it, but to ALSO continue to strive for more knowledge, more improvement anyways.
