I've used Prozac, Effexor, Zoloft and Lexapro. Of those pills I felt that Lexapro, Prozac and Effexor worked the best. Lexapro did cause extreme stomach pains, but because of that I would just take it at night with a poptart, cracker or some bread and juice. Other than the stomach pain and increased appetite, I really didn't deal with any other side effects. I noticed that Lexapro worked very quickly for me, after a few pills I already noticed a difference in my depression, borderline personality disorder, anxiety and my urges/desire to self-injure. It made an extreme difference for me and as I said before it was very quick.I started on a high dosage and within five months my dosage was lowered. Medication doesn't work the same for everyone, I was satsfied with Lexapro, but you may not be. If you do take it, take note of everything and speak to your doctor if you feel that it is not working. I went off of the medication on my own and that was a bad decision, I dealt with serious withdrawl. Headaches, fatigue, frustration, anxiety and extreme depression. Your doctor can certainly help you out with making the correct decision on what you should be taking.

I am a phamacy tech and 95% said that ir worked for them the other 5% said it didn't help them to much. Its different for everyone.

Here are some things about Lexapro:

How does Lexapro work?

Lexapro helps to restore the brain's chemical balance by increasing the available supply of serotonin, a substance in the brain believed to influence mood.

When will I start feeling better?

In clinical studies, many patients treated with Lexapro began to feel better within 1 or 2 weeks, although the full effect may take 4 to 6 weeks. You should follow up with your healthcare professional and report your progress.

Can I stop taking Lexapro once I feel better?

No. You should take your medicine for as long as your healthcare professional advises, even if you start feeling better; otherwise your symptoms could return or worsen. Your healthcare professional may ask you to keep taking Lexapro even if you are feeling better.

Are there side effects with Lexapro?

Lexapro is well tolerated by most people. The most commonly reported side effects of Lexapro are nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, somnolence, increased sweating, fatigue, decreased libido, and anorgasmia. Most of the side effects experienced by patients taking Lexapro are mild to moderate and go away with continued treatment, and usually do not cause patients to stop taking Lexapro.

Hope that helps.

been on it 3 years and it's working very good..no side effects. Each person's body reacts differently so u will have to see how it works for you..This is a good drug that works faster than most..should work in 5-7 days where as most take 4-6 weeks.

i have a different opinion on Lexapro:

lexapro really didn't do anything for me. it didn't make me feel any better. it made me gain a LOT of weight--20 pounds to be exact!!

of course, everyone is different and people respond differently to many differrent types of medicines...
