Jesus said of Judas that it would have better if he(Judas) had never been born. I believe in this statement that Jesus was not thinking of himself because of Judas's betrayl but rather he was alluding to Judas's ultimate demise and eternal fate.

Tough one. I do not jump on the ticket to hell bandwagon, but..in his case his grief was not of repentance. If it were, he would have been like peter who betrayed Jesus just as much, but still found forgiveness. I think suicide is a hard one. If you give up living there is a good chance that you have chosen to not accept Jesus. But I'm sure there are exceptions such as the mentally ill or other people with extreme depression. I have no right to judge them like that. I also can't claim that since they did not ask for forgiveness for that sin, it will bar them from heaven. Humans are imperfect. Imagine a saved christian who curses right before he gets killed in a car accident. Did he lose salvation because a bad word slipped out? I think it is more about a relationship than a single unconfessed sin. If you have that relationship, suicide probably won't be in your vocabulary.

If you look at suicide outside from an automatic ticket to hell, you come up with one premise: You are deciding when your life is done. Biblically based, you are known even before you are born (Jeremiah 29:11) and that is it simply your job to live out your life the best way possible, sharing the Word with as many people as possible along the way. The temptation to control our life in such a way that we determine when we live or die is motivated not by God, but by Satan. The urge to do anything sinful (or just bad) is influence from him. I don't know if this helps, but ultimately, No - Judas did not have that chance.

Judas was an apostle, knew Christ was the Son of God, followed him, learned with him, taught with him, and believed in him. Therefore, when Judas betrayed Christ, he did so with full knowledge, understanding, and intent - all for greed and the recognition of the enemy in power. It was not an accident or mistake or instantaneous wrong choice. I think Judas ruined his status in the next life because of that action, even without having committed suicide.
As for suicide being a ticket to hell, that depends on the state of mind of the person and whether they are truly in control or not. Only God can and will judge because we have no idea.

No, I don't think he was saved. Jesus even says that the devil is in one of them.
John 6:70-71 “Then Jesus replied, ‘Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!’ (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
Mark 14:20
20"It is one of the Twelve," he replied, "one who dips bread into the bowl with me. 21The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."

You are making several assumptions here:
1. If suicide is a sin, therefore all suicides go to hell.
2. If suicide is not a sin, the Judas did not go to hell.
3. If you do a lot of miracles in Jesus' name, you are one of His.
First of all, suicide is a sin. However, many other things are sins, and that does not mean you go to hell for it. There is such a thing as forgiveness. Not just for sins but for your whole sinful state. And that doesn't mean you never sin any more either. You start to change. But only god can measure the degree of strugle each person has with temptation.
So I believe that a person can commit suicide without necessarily going to hell, if he is a child of God by faith. He is not doing the will of God, and is cheating himself out of a lot of blessing though.
Secondly, Judas did not go to hell because of his suicide. That only made it faster. He went to hell because he is called "The son of perdition". He was being a hypocrite all along, being the group's treasurer and stealing form the purse.
If Judas went to Hell, it is because he never repented, never availed himself of Jesus' forgiveness. He just played the game.
Finally, you can do all sorts of miracles and prophesy in Jesus' name, and still be lost. Read the end of Matthew chapter 7. Particularly around verse 21. "Those who say Lord, Lord, will not all enter the kingdom of God, but those who do the will of my Father who is in Heaven". Jesus goes on to describe people who say: "Lord, didn't we prophecy in your name? Didn't we cast out demons in your name? Didn't we do miracles in your name? " And Jesus adds: "And I will say unto them: "I never knew you". It isn't that he ceased to know them. He never knew them.
So it is possible to profess Christianity, and to even have some of its power, by the grace of God, without being a real Christian.

I have thought about it for years, I finally came to the conclusion that it is not for me to Judge Judas or anyone else.
God is the Judge, and I am very happy to have it that way.
just a thought that might interest you, Judas was a zealot, a member of a sect that believed that the messiah would come to set up his kingdom on earth, and when Judas betrayed Jesus he thought that he was forcing Jesus to set up his kingdom on earth. but he did not realize that God had a different plan, and when he realize what he did, he hanged himself out of remorse.

Suicide is just another sin that Jesus died for. God knows the difference between a sinful heart and a hurting heart, and the older you get the more you will appreciate that.
If you think such a thing is a ticket to hell, you don't really understand salvation and what Jesus did to bring it to us. Leave the decisions about who's going to Hell to God.

Judas must have become the devil incarnate for those few hours when he betrayed Jesus!
Tough question... I'd say that he wasn't saved, but who's to say no?

WE used to debate this in my Family all the time, but Judas wasnt saved. Why?
because he was picked for the betrayal, still he couldve been saved,so then he was paid for the betrayal, still he couldve been saved...but,unlike Peter(whom denied him)Thomas(whom doubted him and the others whom were forgiven,he turned away from Jesus(even if you agree with the recent Judas papers found)and hung himself instead of asking for forgivness, thus turning away from God,(and remaining a disciple on a mission)instead of to God, Is suicide the ticket to hell,I'd like to not think it was,but most suicides are from people trying to get away from their problems not God
