I have a friend that every days wants a high five but then he doesnt let my hand go for a few seconds...and he asks me all the time for a hug...

Aww well men are very difficult. They either act playful with gaming with you. Or they will continuously comment on what you are wearing. Some guys like to tease, and even though we take it as an offence against us, it is their way of saying they like us. Then you have the guys out there who are just blunt. But if this guy is acting the way he is with you I bet he is flirting, but he may be to shy to point blank say he likes you.

Depends what kind of guy....
1) Shy guys will often get nervous and trip over their words (although this often has nothing to do with their real adventurousness, confidence, or intelligence when they're 'sane' and comfortable. They will also do several things to wait for you to give a "you are welcome here" response, like asking you to do things like hugs and kissing (sounds like a sign of a boring person, I know, but the fact is it's partly nervousness and sometimes also partly fear of being labelled "stalker/unwanted guest" if they don't get permission (like your example).
Once they do feel they are welcomed they become more humorous, adventurous, and 'cocky'.
2) Cocky guys will often make fun of you and try to see if you can be creative and tough/esteemed enough to argue back flirtaciously and not angrily. Some girls think this is a kind of 'sign' that the guy must be made to be because he can 'think how she thinks...and in a kinda naughty way' but, truth is, anyone can do it given past assurance (IE success with many women): it's kinda like Tarot Reading; telling futures nearly everyone has in some way or another.
3) Nervous guys or guys worried about being accepted by women will act a bit like shy guys and, in addition, tilt many types of dates toward doing what the woman/girl wants...they are very eager to please and compliment (I'd consider "giving a high-five" and "asking for a hug" obvious complimenting).
Between the "shy" and "nervous" issues a lot of guys end up hiding I'd say maybe 80-90% of what makes them unpredictable, sexy, and fun...because they're freaked out it might scare women.
I short, I'm 26 and I've seen just about everything, and I would say this guy is definitely (although nervously) flirting, could easily be a lot more adventurous and fun then he seems behind his nervousness, and if, minus his lack of confidence and adventurous so called "cocky" attitute, you like him, you should do the same thing back he does to you and, if he takes it well, make the next move.

a.... high five? I don't know about high fives, but guys who always want a hug are usually desperate for affection, if you like this guy, great, but if he's just a creepy guy that wants a hug, I suggest you keep a distance. He will move on to other people in time if you do keep a distance.

well i can tell you that this guy is probably interested but this isn't what i'd call common male flirting. commonly i'd say stuff like pick-up lines or compliments in conversations

I believe that changes with age, not generation. When you're young, you treat them mean. When you get a little older, you treat them "less" mean, a little older, then you try saying nice/stupid things, a little older, it's eye contact and joking, after all those years of nothing working, you just get mean all over again

Most common I would think is just flirtatious talking and possibly messing with them, joking around and make them laugh. Hugs can work out.

I think your beauty is his weakness. You should stay with him day and night over the minimum six months. You should sleep along with all the night and some day times. Then solve your problems.

What i do is steal her stuff(then give it back),hit her softly and especially making little comments that make her blush and that give her hints that i like her.

use cool Pick Up lines like"you remind me of a broom you just swept me off of my feet " or Somethings wrong with my eyes I cant get them of you" try it I did
