When a dogs hair stands on end it is usually a warning for others to tread carefully, mostly they are either defending there territory or they just don't like the other dog..

when a dog is mad or frighten their hair does that, to show other people animals, etc. that they are not afraid and it is a defennse. in playing it is about the same but it is little like childern pretending. but sometimes they get carried away. just normal .one day one wants to be big bad barnney and the next time it is the other.

The 'hair stand' is for information to the surroundings. Standing hair in the neck is a sign of aggression, standing hair all the way down the back to the tail is a sign of insecurity, MUY IMPORTANTE TO KNOW THIS!!

That happened a lot to my dog. I think he was just mainly trying to show everyone that he was the more dominant one, but it didn't necessarliy mean he was angry or wanted to fight. He always played with other dogs and didn't get into fights with them.
