I have a 4yr old dog whose owner died about 8 months ago, this dog also had a sister, but we could not keep both. If she only wants to eat cat food is that ok?

no, it's not okay for specially dogs to eat cat food, becasue cat food has too much acid levels.
you need to ask your vet what else you can feed your sirster's sick dog.

Nope. Dog food is specifically formulated for canines and cat food is specifically formulated for felines.
Cat food contains a high level of protein and often a pretty high level of fat. The vitamin/mineral levels are also different. Dogs won't be hurt by an occasional cat food snack, but if that is their sole source of nutrition it can certainly cause problems, including pancreatitis, kidney damage, or gastrointestinal upset (i.e. vomiting/diarrhea). Even if you don't see any of this right away or even in a few months, a cat food diet for a dog will eventually cause problems down the road.

Get a high quality dog food, preferably whatever the dog was eating previously (unless it was cat food in which case start over!). Offer that and nothing else; most dogs are pretty good eaters and she should come around in a day or two.
If she refuses to eat the dry dog food, you can try to mix canned dog food in with the dry or feed just canned if you prefer. If that doesn't seem to work (give it a day or two, though, don't worry if she goes hungry for a day. If you give in and offer cat food or human food or whatever, she just learned that if she doesn't eat her dog food she get something special. Then you will have an even more difficult time!)
Another option, if she is really stubborn, would be to offer dry dog food with cat food sprinkled on top or mixed with it. Then over a few days, give more dog food and less cat food until she is eating only dog food.
Good luck!

Do you buy cat food for it? Maybe try talking to a vet or something, I dont think that would be a good idea to feed it cat food. If wont eat anything but cat food thats a problem then you really need to see a vet or something like that..

Eating cat food probably won't hurt your dog, though it's best that he doesn't eat it all the time. Cats and dogs require different diets. Cats are pure carnivores, meaning they typically eat nothing but meat, while dogs are omnivorous, meaning that they eat some plant materials along with their meat.

no, cat food is nutritionally balanced for cats and dog food for dogs. I would recommend that you put the dog on a good premium dog food and keep him away from the cats food completely. Good Luck.

No, they require different nutrition. Eating cat food can lead to Kidney and liver problems in dogs. I would suggest trying different brands of food until you find one that works.

No, not OK. You need to insist that the dog have dog food. If she doesn't eat it, take the food bowl away and try again at the next meal.

No it's not good. Cat food is too rich, and has too much protein. It is okay if he accidentally eats a bit here and there, but not as a daily dish. It can make them sick.
