Is it simply a mistaken observation, or do an abundance of religiously minded people here have difficulty with the English language? I suppose that is why I would be more likely to have faith in God than in mankind. At least God does not ceaslessly dissapoint me with ignorance.

God and the proving and disproving of the existance or extent of the existance of that God is not the point. My point is if you are at least going to belive in God and spend your time publically documenting your thoughts, make sure you have actually thought them out. Actually research what God is about (and not from TV, radio, or cheesy autobiographies). Read scholars and most importantly, read things from outside christian thought. You can't very well claim to be something (responsibly) without knowing what you are claiming to be. My question is not directed just at christian "believers" but in general to the opinionated cultute we have that claims belifs based on "reader's digest" or "bumper sticker" sayings and repeated ideas that are personally unfounded. To those of you who were thowing your "credentials" around, this obviously has less to do with you than with others. Hopefully this will entice someon out there to read a (scholarly) book to spite me.

yes, that's why i stopped coming in here for about a month.

a month later, and they are talking about the same old stuff...do you all ever get tired of having the same arguments and conversations over and over again?

Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result?

Actually, wherever you go and whatever subject is being discussed, there are ignorant people. I'm wondering what they're doing in schools these days! Is the problem with the teachers or the students? Some questions presented in Yahoo Answers make my head almost explode as I try to unravel the bad grammar, choppy sentence structure, lousy spelling, and haphazard punctuation! I can sit down with a book after being on this site, and it's like I've gone from choppy waves to still waters again.

This forum is host to many schools of thought, both religeous and non-religeous. My limited observation has been that we are dealing with a wide and diverse audiance whose knowledge and maturety level are often suspect. Some however are very well read and know why they believe what they believe. It can at times be a challenge however I plan to stick it out and seek the truth together.

There are some number of ignorant people in all areas of this site. I have seen many an Atheist butcher the English language here, as well as dancers in the dance category, some in the beauty and style category, etc. Ignorance seems to know no bounds, or in this case religious mindset.

I don't think people who mis-spell words are ignorant. (Everyone knows where the spell check is.) I consider this an informal forum, and only spell check the words I feel are important to spell right. As long as its understandable.
I do however spell check every letter I send to the Government or paper.

I find that about 45% of all the people that talk on Yahoo Answers are ignorant, religious or not !! Very few seem able to use the English language correctly.

perfect...I have no real argument or point so lets attack typos and such rather than have an "intelligent" discussion. I graduated with a 3.7 GPA, 7th in my class. The only ignorance I see here is in this foolish comment.

hmm as Ive stated before, I don't think anyone would challenge my knowledge of faith, The main reason why my answers are not in essay format or spelled correctly, is simply because I do not care.

Actually, I find many people on here "ignorant".

That includes Christian, Atheist and many in between. And oftentimes it has less to do with their spelling and grammar than of their sweeping generalizations and academic superciliousness, married with their inability to read between the lines of poor grammar to see the true message attempting to be conveyed.

A little more compassion and a little less superiority would go a long way toward making the the world more pleasant for all of us.
