i heard this pop sound (similar to when a bulb blows) then there was no color. bulb is fine but something blew????? all i get is black and white. the projector was pretty hot when i felt it. fan is blowing. i'm thinking like the color wheel blew, if that is possible but upon looking in my manual i found nothing about this.

this is a dlp projector it is mounted to the ceiling. i was watching tv when i heard a pop and then all color was gone. sounded like a bulb blew but the bulb is fine. i still get a pic but it is black and white. was thinking maybe the color wheel but can't find anything about it in the mannual. any ideas?

I gather this is a DLP projector? Actually, doesn't matter. A color TV has two basic driver circuits...chrominance, which controls color, and luminance, which controls brightness. It sounds like your chrominance circuit is blown. These days, it's usually a simple card replacement. Not something you should attempt yourself, though. You'll have to bring the projector to an authorized repair shop.

Turn off the TV and use a spare for the meantime. Have it checked by an authorized service center.

I was gonna say one of the tubes blew. Aren't there three a Red a green and a Blue.
