I have to choose a book to read that is by an American Author. We just finished reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and I really enjoyed reading that.....do you know of any other novels similar to Huck Finn that's fit for a junior in highschool??

Well, the obvious answer is Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" and Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Last of the Mohicans" are good adventures and are available in abridged forms suitable for your age group. James Fennimore Cooper wrote the "Leatherstocking" series. Jack London has some great adventures as well.

Johnny Tremaine, Never Cry Wolf, White Fang, A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court. THe light in the forest, To Kill a Mockingbird, BUT my favorite, which isnt American but British, is King Solomons Mines ( Alan Quartermaine is who Indiana Jones was based on)
