Rollerblading worked for me. Give it a try. Great for the calves and thighs.

Basketball and Tennis are great for your calves, and running is too. But if you REALLY want to pump up your calf muscles, you have to isolate them. Get a wooden box, or on a step, stand on the edge with your toes (about half of your foot should be hanging off the edge), and lower yourself as low as possible and then raise yourself up to your tippietoes. Do this 15-20 times, then repeat three more sets.
Once that gets to be too easy, put some weight on your back. You will feel the burn in no time!

Long distance running will give you shapely but not bigger calves. Try biking, I ride daily when the weather permits. Also try standing and then coming up on your toes, go back down. Climbing stairs, making sure to step up with your toes on the step so your heal hangs off the edge.

Calf muscles are probably the most stubborn muscles to stimulate growth in, and unless you're genetically gifted with well-rounded calf muscles, it's a struggle.
Really the best and fastest way of stimulating growth in calf muscles is by weight training. I was a runner and played sports for years, but have always had small calves until I really started blasting them with weights (it took me two to three months or so to really start seeing results). Exercising them with weights, it's the only muscle group where I believe "pain is gain" because they are so stubborn. This is because we utilize them every day just by standing up, walking around, and generally supporting our weight.
If you don't have access to a gym, try standing on one leg on a staircase, balancing yourself on a wall or rail, and lifting up one to two seconds in the upward movement, then down three to four seconds in the downward movement, getting the full stretch and full range of movement. As you progress, try adding weight by holding something heavy or strapping a weighted backpack on.
Good luck!

Basketball and Tennis help to an extent but walking is what you need. You can run long distance too but I find walking more effective for some reason. Crosscountry will make your calves look great! Good luck!

stairclimber...or to save money just walk up and down some stairs...but i know i have a lot of muscle tone on my body but the other day i had to power walk up a hill for an interview about a mile in heels, took the wrong bus, afterwards my calves were on fire and my feet were aching....but power squats work good as well, and they are great for the thighs and butt as well

One of the best ways is to stand on stairs or a block with your toes/ball of your foot on, and lower and raise your heels. Climbing stairs or hills does the job. Use your toes more. That makes you calf muscle grow.
