By some of today's standards, I think Jesus might have been seen as a hippie today, he certainly was viewed as a dangerous political opponent and revolutionary then by many. that's really why he was crucified from the peoples' viewpoint at that. time.

Now about hallucingens, many great thinkers have experienced them, usually only in a limited experimental way. However there is no evidence that Jesus ever did or did not, so anything along those lines, either way is mere speculation.

there is evidence to suggest that he may have become romantically linked with Mary Magdalene and that the wedding at Canaan could have actually been theirs. It is not hard core evidence, but highly suggestive. Clearly she thought that way of him and massaged his feet and treated him lovingly.

Now with that said, I don't think any of that diminshes his value or role as our savior, not at all. He was after all, fully God and fully human, not half and half. He then could have been married or in a normal male/female relationship as we humans are and consumed things of the earth and still be Holy. We know he ate and drank and so forth.

His power was, I believe, recieved from God as the "Holy Spirit descended upon him as dove" when his older cousin John The Baptist, baptized him in the Jordan. (You may or may not know that John was Mary's sister's son).

In conclusion, could be, except for where he got his powers, and that in no way changes who he was for us and to us or what his purpose was.

Hope that answers your question.

Oh, there's a great film if you can find it called Godspell that shows Jesus in NYC in the 70's and how even then he was rejected for his revolutionary ideas. You might enjoy that!

The Gospel was not a first hand account of Jesus tripping out. It was a bunch of people compiling all the miracles they had experienced and witnessed. It is a little more substantial than a druggie's hallucinations.
