Most of the atheists I have come across are just angry, angry, hurt, people, and I don't understand why. I cannot remember meeting one who was ever happy. Just cynical, and mean.
I do not want to start a religious argument, I just want to hear your side of whatever it is that has you feeling so negatively.

Notice, I said come across, as met, have come in contact with in person. I don't mean the whole world. It's like saying all Mexicans have brown eyes, which is not true, but if that is all you have come in contact with, then it is okay to say, "Why do most of the Mexicans I have met have brown eyes".

I appreciate the thought out questions. Notice, though, I did not bring up religion in here. I could be muslim, buddhist, christian, or a fart in the wind.

I'm perfectly happy. I guess you know most atheists of the world right?
Well ok, I will answer your question seriously.
Most people (over 75% of people, who are religoius, got their religoin from their parents).
If parents were active in their child's life it is safe to say that most religious people grew up in a reasonable environment.
While many atheists or agnostics on the other hand have seen immense pain, and often pain breeds the truth. My parents were abusive drug addicts, just one of the many struggles I've faced.

Your post demonstrates naivety, because you jump straight to stereotypes.
I am neither an atheist, nor a member of any religion. What my experience with atheists has been, is that god and religion is simply not something that they think about at all. It is a non-issue for them, but can become angry or upset when religious zealots go too far and judge them and offer their "expert advice" on the condition of their immortal soul.I assure you, most atheists are not simply angry people.
Lastly, it is ludicrous to say that anyone is angry or happy for that matter. Anger and happiness are emotions, and in life our emotions change like the weather. To strive for happiness is a fool's errand, because it is unattainable. And honestly, if life didn't have that bit of "roller-coaster feel", would it really be living?
If you are a christian, why not follow one of your basic rules laid down by Christ, and don't judge others. Because if you find there are many angry people around you, it might just be that you are making them angry.

Well I know one atheist that gets really angry sometimes. And his main reason for getting angry is because he sees people as mindless sheep who cant think for themselfs. But I think the problem goes deeper then that I think its about not having a place in the world/universe. By this I mean he doesnt see the world as a very friendly place and he may or may not be right but I think it doesnt help his mood when he thinks this way. I have found peace in knowing that I am part of something that exists and will always have been a part of it for the rest of eternity. I have tryed to see if he could see the world this way and it brings him back to his belief that the world/universe is without free will and its people are just mindless drones. We really are very different in our ways of thinking and its a wonderful thing that we are able to be friends in any shape and form. BTW he isnt stupid and isnt angry all the time I think maybe in your case of running into only angry athiest there might be a reason for it but it could also just be random chance or maybe you just dont notice the happy ones?

Well im an atheist and the only reason i become angry sometimes is the intolerance people have for people. Which unfornately is bred by religion. I am not an angry person though. Im sometimes depressed for being missunderstood by my family and friends. And my past with my parents one a coc attic and one that was too wraped up in herr own life to worry about me.I started to question my parents and there beleives which led me to atheism. Some people say because we were treated so bad thats why were atheist because we were so cynical about life but thats just not true. We just finally questioned things that are parents beleived and were passed on to us. Something that someone with parents they trust would never do. Hence why marriage and family is so important to churches. It is not that we think christians are stupid or delusional but we think you have just neverr had the chance to think by yourself. Which sounds harsh and cruel but think about it santa clause you totally beleived in him when your parents endorsed him right. But when presented with the thought of him maybe not being real you thought for yourself and found him to be false.

I dunno! I've thought about this and my best guess is that the people you've run across are in a setting where their anger would come across?
Ah, let me reword. I'm an atheist, but most people that I know, like 95%, wouldn't suspect I'm atheist. It just doesn't come up.
So since it's "coming up" in conversations that you have with atheists, my guess is that they are the aggressive type that would be very forward about their belief system - if they were an angry Christian, angry Muslim or whatever.

Some Atheists will say that Christians thy to FORCE religion on them. Force? as in point a gun at your head? Get you in a headlock and make you say uncle? Sabotage your car? Have your power cut off? The Christians that I know are concerned about others and their eternal well being. A person isn't offended or angered when others are concerned about their health, finances, safety, etc. So why be offended or angered when a person shows concern for their eternal well being? Most Christians that I know will admit that they are not without fault. Judas was evidently a believer once upon a time but he fell away. A christian should know the way of salvation, proper conduct, to be thankful, and only want to share this knowledge and faith with others. Concerned. Not force. But concern, love, and care about others and their eternal well being. What's wrong with that?

Some of them are bitter, former Christians who've been through the system and found that their religion fell short of how great and helpful and true it was supposed to be. It's oftentimes the more idealistic, dedicated, hopeful Christians who become most disillusioned and angry when their religion fails to live up to their expectations. Not all of these people remain angry, thought. They just are going through a transition period.
Then again, many atheists and agnostics are very happy, well-adjusted people. You're probably getting a skewed picture of atheists because the angry ones make the most noise and call the most attention to themselves.

I have to differ with you. I am an Atheist and I seldom get angry and when I do it is not over my Atheist conviction. I find most Atheist I have met to be kind pleasant honest people. They get angry like anyone else. If you judge my answer as an angry reply I think you need some religious counseling. Kisses Betty.

I don't know any of the atheists you have met, and so I don't know why they were angry. I myself am usually a very happy person, as are most of my friends who are atheist or agnostic. Perhaps there is some other reason the atheists you have met were unhappy people? I doubt that it is because of their atheism, based off of my personal experiences.

Actually, most atheists I know are quite nice people! Even Nietzsche was said to be very nice.
But Atheists are angry at Bible thumpers!
If you are a republican, and you try to start a political debate with a democrat, (or vice versa) you'll probably get the same reaction.
Actually let me modify that:
Even Christians are angry at Bible thumpers! Say if you are Catholic and a Jehova's witness comes to your house and wouldn't leave until you convert, wouldn't you be angry too?

Here's why you think we are 'angry':
Because we have to answer this same absurd question over and over and defend ourselves from your hypocritical propaganda on a daily basis.
And really truly, it's the Theists who are angry, because deep down they have no real belief in god, but being delusional makes you all feel better.
Also, we need not get into the horror show that is religious 'beliefs' throughout history and the bloodshed that has accompanied it.
Now, that's true anger.
If you were all so happy with your 'god' wouldn't you all be the peaceful little sheep Jesus supposedly told you to be? Instead religion is a combative political belief that shrouds itself in spirituality.
